NDIS Daily Living & Community Access – Frequently Asked Questions

Ndis By CCNA Care Team 16 Jul 2026

Daily living support and community access are two of the most-used NDIS supports. Here's how they work.

What is NDIS daily living support?

NDIS daily living support helps participants with everyday tasks that support independence, safety and wellbeing. This may include personal care, meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, shopping, routines, appointments and support at home.

What is NDIS community access?

Community access helps participants take part in life outside the home. This may include attending appointments, shopping, visiting family, going to community events, joining activities, attending cultural events or building confidence in public spaces.

Can NDIS support help me build life skills?

Yes. NDIS support can help participants develop practical life skills such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning, using transport, planning appointments, communicating with services and building routines. The aim is to increase confidence and independence over time.

Can a support worker take me to appointments?

Yes, if transport and community access are included in your NDIS plan. A support worker may assist you to attend medical appointments, therapy sessions, shopping, social activities or community events.

Can daily living support include personal care?

Yes. Personal care may include assistance with showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility and mealtime routines. Support should always be delivered respectfully and in a way that protects the participant's dignity.

Can support be provided at home and in the community?

Yes. Many participants receive a combination of home-based support and community access. For example, a support worker may help with morning routines at home and then assist the participant to attend an appointment or community activity.

Why is goal-based support important?

Goal-based support keeps the focus on what the participant wants to achieve. This may be greater independence, better health routines, stronger community connection, improved confidence or reduced reliance on family members.

How does CCNA Care deliver daily living support?

CCNA Care provides daily living support in a person-centred way. We listen to the participant, understand their goals, consider their routine and match support to practical daily needs.
